SIMULATION SOFTWARE HELP FEATURE Open Help Menu

All simulators come with Help features that document the full capabilities of the simulators. To access Help, simply click on the question mark button located below every simulator on the right. Doing this opens that simulator's Help Menu in a separate, small Internet Explorer window.

To view the Help Menu for the Dipole Playground, click on the Help button to the right.

Open Help Menu

The Help Menu contains two types of links: Text labels and icons.

The text labels link to help pages explaining general simulator features. If you roll your mouse over a text label, a short description of the help page appears in Internet Explorer's Status Bar (located at the bottom left of the browser window).

One of those help pages is designed especially for people new to CPU Simulation Software. To view that page, click on the link Beginner Help on the last row of the Help Menu. Return to the Help Menu by clicking the left arrow or by clicking the question mark icon above.

The icons link to help pages for the corresponding simulator tool or button.

When you roll your mouse over a Help Menu icon, a brief description of the simulator tool appears in the Status Bar. On PCs, if you position the cursor over the icon, a small text box also appears that identifies the tool.

For an example help page, click on the icon for the magnet . The next section describes the general features of this help page and other help pages.

Help Pages

A help page for a tool displays the button icon for the tool at the top left. The text begins with the name of the tool in orange. It continues with a detailed description of that tool. Help pages for general simulator features have a similar layout (except for for the button icon).

The help page usually has links to other topics, such as the Select Button. Links are always underlined, and the only underlined words are links.

All help pages have two buttons: Back and Open Help Page in New Window .

Open Help Page in New Window opens the help page in a new browser window. You will find this useful for the longer help pages and those with figures.

Back returns you to the last page. Back behaves exactly like Internet Explorer's Back button or command. It does NOT necessarily return you to the Help Menu. If you want to reload the Help Menu, click on the Help button Open Help Menu below the simulator.

The Back button at the bottom of longer help pages functions in the same way as the left arrow.
