CPU Server (PC) Mini-Installer Update

Last updated 25 June 2001

Note: Macintosh users do not need the CPU Server Mini-Installer Update (which doesn't work on Macs anyway!).

The CPU Server Mini-Installer Update is only necessary for those PC users who wish to install CPU on a network that includes computers using Windows 2000 and have had trouble performing the installation on either the server or client end.

Before running these programs, completely uninstall CPU from the server. Then reinstall CPU on the server, but don't run the Mini-Installer program (MiniInstallerServer.exe) yet.

Download and run the CPU PC Installer Patch.

Download this file: CPUMiniInstall.exe

This file is an self-extracting WinZip archive that contains two files (MiniInstallerServer.exe and MiniInstallerClient.TMPL ) that belong in your main CPU folder (which is, by default, CPU Simulators in the main directory of the C drive).

To extract this archive, simply double-click on CPUMiniInstall.exe.

In the Unzip to Folder field, type in the name and location of the CPU folder. If you kept the default folder name and location (C:\CPU Simulators), leave the field unchanged. Then click Unzip.

The WinZip self-extractor program will place MiniInstallerServer.exe and MiniInstallerClient.TMPL in the CPU folder, automatically overwriting the files of the same names already in the folder.

Click Close to close the Winzip self-extractor window.

Then configure the CPU server by running MiniInstallerServer.exe.

Finally, perform the client installations.

Please report any difficulties using this software to The Learning Team in as much detail as possible.
